‘India Out’ campaign of Bangladesh’s opposition party unsuccessful
India’s exports to Bangladesh increased
Dhaka (Bangladesh) – The ‘Bangladesh Nationalist Party’ (BNP), the opposition party in Bangladesh, was pushing ‘India Out’ campaign in Bangladesh similar to the one in Maldives. The campaign has proved to be a failure. Mohammad Abdul Waheed of the ‘Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s’ said that there has been no effect on the commerce in Bangladesh of the ‘India Out’ campaign.
1. According to the World Bank’s report, 12% of Bangladesh’s imports were from India in 2021-22. This has now increased to 16%.
2. The Indian High Commission in Bangladesh says there has been an increase in their export of cotton, and other goods necessary for day to day living, and industrial raw material in the last 3 years.

3. Prior to the Bangladesh general elections, the Benapole-Petrapole border saw about 200 to 250 trucks bringing goods from India per day. Now the number has increased to 400 to 450 trucks carrying goods from India every day.
4. Dhaka’s Chandani Chowk and New Market is famous for Indian clothes. The traders say that post the elections of Bangladesh, there has been an increase in sale of Indian goods.

The people of Bangladesh depend on Indian goods for their daily needs. These include vegetables, oil, cosmetics, clothes, mobile, vehicles. Large number of Bangladesh citizens buy jewellery and fashionable clothes imported from India.
