Election campaigns banned in Sarundewadi, Kunkeri (Dist. Sindhudurg)
The administration’s neglect of the longstanding demand to build a bridge over the brook leads to frustration among the villagers
Sawantwadi, Maharashtra – A brook en route Sarundewadi, in Kunkeri village of Sindhudurg District in Maharashtra. When the stream overflows with water during the monsoon, it cuts off the connection of Sarundewadi with other parts of the area. For years, villagers have been demanding the construction of a bridge over this brook. Despite reaching out to ministers and representatives from all the political parties, the villagers feel disheartened by the repeated false promises made during elections. In response, they have boldly displayed a sign at the entrance of Sarundewadi, declaring that leaders and workers of all the political parties are prohibited from coming to Sarundewadi for campaigning during the Lok Sabha elections and all the subsequent elections. This action is a tight slap in the face of the political parties discussing their development agenda.
