Bhojshala survey at Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, 40% completed
The survey found numerous idols, pillars and artefacts bearing Hindu religious symbols so far
Dhar (Madhya Pradesh) – The ongoing survey by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) at Bhojshala, as directed by the Court, has reached 40% completion. The survey has uncovered numerous Hindu artefacts at the site.
1. The survey team comprises 15 officers and 25 workers. On 17th April, the survey work was focussed near the Havan Kunda, located in front of the garbha-griha outside the premises of Bhojshala. The team also conducted surveys in the Akal Kuiya and Dargah areas in this region.
2. The Hindu party reported that on the 15th day of the survey, three steps were discovered at the back of the garbha-griha and on the 19th day, the mouth of a cow (Gomukh) was found buried in the wall. Typically, in temples, the water for Abhishek flows from a gomukh. Additionally, a wall-and-pillar-like structure has been unearthed in the western part, with its foundation dating back a millennium. During the cleaning of a nearby lake, many ruins were uncovered. In the centre of the temple lies the Yadnyashala.
3. Gopal Sharma from the Hindu party said that a survey has been conducted in the north and south direction of the garbha-griha. Some such remains have been found here, which tell the story of the attack on Bhojshala. It explains how the hall was demolished. Such remains have been found here and are the subject of investigation. This investigation will reveal the truth and prove it to be Bhojshala. An estimated 40% of the work has been completed in the Bhojshala and its 50-metre radius. It seems that it will take more time to complete the survey. Therefore, the ASI may request the Court to extend the survey period.
4. Abdul Samad from the Muslim party stated that nothing significant has been found in the survey so far. However, he claimed that two days ago, an idol of Gautam Buddha was found in the auditorium.
