Barmer (Rajasthan) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Marxist Communist Party’s manifesto calling for the destruction of nuclear weapons in the country during a campaign meeting here. PM Modi highlighted that while India’s two neighbours, Pakistan, and China, possess nuclear weapons, the opposition seeks to disarm India, particularly the Communist Party. The party’s manifesto pledges to “eliminate chemical and biological weapons, including nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction.” PM Modi questioned the Congress party, asking under whose orders its allies are working and what kind of alliance this is. He emphasized the contradiction between the government’s efforts to strengthen India and the opposition’s plans to weaken the country through the INDI alliance.
The CPI(M) manifesto includes several assurances that may be perceived as anti-India:
1. India’s expulsion from the ‘Quad’ group comprising India, America, Japan, and Australia.
2. Closure of all military centres in the Indian subcontinent, particularly the US military base at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean.
3. Complete dismantling of all nuclear weapons in India, as well as the elimination of chemical and biological weapons.
4. Opposition to the militarization of space stations and polar regions.
5. Termination of all strategic relations with the US that undermine the country’s sovereignty and interests.
6. Severance of all strategic, security, and military ties with Israel.
7. Advocacy for sanctions against Israel at the United Nations.
8. Negotiation with China to resolve the border dispute and enhance bilateral relations.
9. Dialogue with Pakistan to resolve all outstanding issues in dispute.
Editorial Perspective
By now, the people should have demanded the banning of any party making anti-national promises and the imprisonment of its leaders for seeking votes based on such agendas. It is disappointing that Indians have not made such a demand yet ! |
