Hindu women worship the Krushna well in the Shahi Eidgah Mosque at Shrikrushna Janmabhoomi
Mathura (Uttar Pradesh) – Hindu women worshipped the Krushna well at the Shahi Eidgah Mosque at the Shrikrushna Janmabhoomi. Women traditionally worship here on the occasion of Sheetala Ashtami. Mahendra Pratap Singh, president of Shrikrushna Janmabhoomi Mukti Nyas, had earlier filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court for the right to worship this Krushna well. The Court had allowed to worship.
According to the information received, 34 Hindu women reached the place of Krushna well at 5 a.m. on 1st April. They worshipped Sheetala Mata. No one else was allowed except these 34 women, hence, 7 other people who came to worship were taken into custody by the Police. Dinesh Sharma, president of Shrikrushna Janmabhoomi Sangharsh Trust, is also included among those arrested. These people had already announced that they would go to the mosque and worship on Sheetala Ashtami. Police force has been deployed in this complex.
After Holi, the women visit the Krushna well and worship Deity Sheetala. This ritual has been going on since long time; but ever since Hindus demanded to survey the Shrikrushna Janmabhoomi, Muslims have started trying to prevent the worship. The same thing happened last year. This well is religiously important for Hindus. It was built by Vajranabha, the great grandson of Deity Shrikrushna.
