Spiritual benefit derived by doing pradakshina (circumambulation) around the Deity in a temple – Scientific study conducted by Maharshi Adhyatma Vishwavidyalay using the UAS (Universal Aura Scanner)
When we visit a temple, after taking darshan (viewing) of the Deity, we do pradakshina (circumambulation around the Deity) from which we derive Chaitanya (Divine Consciousness). Scientific Research was conducted by Maharshi Adhyatma Vishwavidyalay using the Universal Aura Scanner (UAS) to study the effect of performing pradakshina in a temple on the subtle-Energy of individuals having spiritual distress and with no spiritual distress.UAS readings were taken before and after doing pradakshina. The interpretation and spiritual analysis of the observations is given below.
The Universal Aura Scanner (UAS) was developed in 2005 by Dr. Mannem Murthy, a former nuclear scientist from Telengana. By using this instrument the energy and the aura of an object, a premises, an animal or an individual can be measured.
1. Interpretation of the observations in the study : In this study, individuals with and without spiritual distress took darshan and did pradakshina (circumambulations) around Deity Siddhivinayak temple at Ramnathi.
1 A. After doing pradakshina in the temple, the negative energy aura of the seekers, with and without spiritual distress, reduced a lot and there was a large increase in their positive energy aura : Before doing pradakshina in the temple, the individuals with and without spiritual distress had negative and positive energy aura. After doing pradakshina, their negative energy aura reduced a lot or disappeared altogether and there was an appreciable increase in their positive energy aura. This is apparent from the table given below.
The observations in the study are given ahead.

2. Spiritual analysis of the observations in the study
2 A. After doing pradakshina, the individuals with and without spiritual distress were benefited : The Chaitanya in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple moves in a circular direction, within the sanctum sanctorum and around it. After doing pradakshina, the individual is benefited by this Chaitanya. In this study the individuals with and without distress, absorbed this Chaitanya as per their bhav (spiritual emotion). Therefore, the covering of distressing vibrations around them reduced a lot and their sattvikta increased to a large extent. From this, it is noted that ‘By doing pradakshina in a temple, an individual gets spiritually benefited’.

Note – Spiritual distress : This means that the individual has negative vibrations. If the individual has more than 50% negative vibrations, it denotes ‘severe’ distress. If the negative vibrations are between 30 and 49%, it denotes ‘moderate’ distress; if the negative vibrations are less than 30%, it denotes ‘mild’ distress. Spiritual distress is caused by spiritual reasons such as destiny, distress due to departed ancestors, etc. |
