Bengaluru (Karnataka) – To address the ongoing water crisis in the city, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) imposed restrictions on rain dance and pool dance parties for Holi 2024. This is being opposed. The Board has clarified that there is no restriction for playing Holi in the city in their homes and residential areas.

The Board has said that Cauvery water and borewell water should not be used for the holi rain dance and pool dance parties. Only re-cycled water should be used for this. The board has said to give priority to rain water harvesting and increasing ground water level.

The Chairman of the Board Dr Ram Prasath Manohar said, the present situation has arisen due to neglect of the citizens. People waste water. The Board gets only Rs 45 from the people for the 100 litres of water they get from the board at a cost of Rs 90. The people should understand the importance of water and conserve it.

Editorial Viewpoint

There should be a strict law forbidding wastage of water during Holi and a huge penalty should be imposed on the offenders.
