Helpline numbers should be made available at all autorickshaw and taxi stands in Maharashtra

Surajya Abhiyan demands to the Minister of Transport

Mumbai – The Regional Transport (East) Office here has recently released the statistics of action taken against taxi and autorickshaw drivers who misbehave with passengers. A WhatsApp number 9152240303 and an e-mail id mh03autotaxcomplaint@gmail.com have also been provided to complain. In this way, all the regional and sub-regional transport offices in the State should provide ‘WhatsApp’ number and ‘Email ID’ to register the complaint and so that the passengers know about it, the board should be put up at all the taxi and autorickshaw stands in the State, demanded the Surajya Abhiyan of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.

1. In Mumbai, taxi drivers often refuse to take you to nearby places outside the railway stations like Dadar, Wadala etc. Many taxi and autorickshaw stands in Mumbai and suburbs are also doing this.

2. Even outside the Thane railway station, this is the case with autorickshaw drivers. More or less these incidents are going on everywhere in the State. Due to this, the passengers are facing a lot of inconvenience.

3. An autorickshaw or taxi driver who refuses a fare is understandable; but at some stations, many taxi or autorickshaw drivers flatly refuse to go to nearby places even after pleading. If you tell them the rules, they don’t agree.

4. If the rickshaw or taxi drivers refuse to take them in the afternoon or late at night, then it is inconvenient for the passengers. If there are women or elderly passengers, it is more unsafe. This often leads to disputes between passengers and taxi and autorickshaw drivers.

5. Surajya Abhiyan has appealed to the Transport Department to take initiative in order to prevent these types of incidents and improve them. In this letter some measures have also been suggested by Surajya Abhiyan.
