Male (Maldives) – Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu’s anti-India stance has put the local schools in a crisis. Many foreign teachers have left Male. Maldivian Democratic Party MP Mohamed Shahid asked a question to the Government about this in the Parliament. The Muizzu Government had to give an explanation. MP Mohamed Shahid asked, “Shortage of teachers is affecting school children’s education, what is the Government doing about it ?” Education Minister of Maldives, Ismail Shafifu replied, “There is no shortage of teachers and there is no crisis. When a teacher leaves, you face challenges for a few weeks. In many cases the foreign teachers in Maldives leave early. If you look at the statistics over the last 30 years, you will see that foreign teachers come to this small island, and they want to leave after a month. Therefore, all the schools in Maldives are not facing this situation.”
