Who writes Rahul Gandhi’s speeches ? – HM Amit Shah criticises Rahul Gandhi over ‘Electoral bond scheme’
Rahul Gandhi compares Electoral bonds to extortion
New Delhi – As criticism mounted against the Union Government over the Electoral Bond Scheme, Home Minister Amit Shah has, for the first time, commented on the issue. Addressing a programme organised by an English news channel, Shah said that the scheme was introduced to eliminate black money from the political arena. He warned that banning the scheme could reintroduce black money into politics. Rahul Gandhi had termed this ‘Electoral Bond Scheme’ as ‘the biggest scheme of extortion in the world’. Shah also questioned who wrote Gandhi’s speeches, referring to his ignorance on the matter.
The Government had introduced the Electoral Bond Scheme in 2018, which the Supreme Court banned last month. Shah further commented that,
1. I do not wish to comment on the Supreme Court’s decision. Instead of banning, the Electoral Bond Scheme could be improved.
2. Before this scheme, political parties were receiving donations in cash. This scheme introduced a method of buying bonds through banks at an institutional or personal level and donating them to political parties.
3. It is said that the BJP, being in power, benefitted the most from this scheme. However, the BJP only received Rs 6,000 crores in electoral bonds. The total amount of electoral bonds received by all political parties exceeds Rs 20,000 crores. Where did the remaining Rs 14,000 crores go ?
4. The donations received by opposition parties are disproportionately high compared to their number of members in Parliament (MPs).
5. Before this scheme, when donations were made in cash, Congress leaders would keep Rs 1,000 to themselves and only give Rs 100 to the party.
