Sanatan’s strength
Sanatan Sanstha, founded by Sachchidananda Parabrahman (Dr) Jayant Balaji Athavale, celebrates its Silver Jubilee Year this month. We are grateful to Him for giving us the opportunity to summarise Sanatan Sanstha’s unique features.
Sanatan Sanstha, which has taken up a monumental task in the field of Spirituality, has played an equally important role in serving the Nation & Dharma. This is Sanatan Sanstha’s uniqueness. Sanatan Sanstha has been telling society that one should not stop at merely performing sadhana (Spiritual practice), rather progress spiritually and obtain Anand (Bliss). Sanatan Sanstha has emerged as an ideal among spiritual organisations.
Sanatan Sanstha has become a school that moulds Saints from seekers, like the Gurukuls ! In the present environment that is burdened with the pursuits of life, Artha (Material gain) and Kama (Desire), in a very professional manner Sanatan Sanstha elucidates how to obtain the Guru’s grace through the integration of Bhaktiyoga, Karmayoga and Jnanayoga, and how to march towards the two forgotten pursuits of life – Dharma (Righteousness) and Moksha (Final Liberation).
And it would not be an exaggeration to say that Sanatan Sanstha has been a boon for the people in the present Kaliyug. Sanatan Sanstha, which advises appropriate sadhana to make our rare human birth meaningful, also suggests measures to sustain it by creating awareness about the coming adverse times. If we understand the greatness of Sanatan’s gross (physical) as well as subtle mission, we will easily be able to realise this aspect. In the present times of a digital world and speed, Sanatan Sanstha’s uniqueness has been in explaining things in scientific terminology and with precision, and these aspects have stood the test of time.
Dedicated to serving the Nation & Dharma
According to Vedic knowledge, Dharma is the foundation of human life. The Nation is a part of the wider body of Dharma. The Nation can never be separated from Dharma. Every method of Nation-building, and the answer to every problem of the Nation, lies in Dharma. The Nation is always Dharma-based in the Sanatan tradition. This tradition is the foundation of a prosperous human life.
A virtuous and pious king and his subjects are the foundation of an ideal Nation. Sanatan Sanstha has been selflessly performing the work of creating such subjects. Sanatan Sanstha has given 65% importance to samashti sadhana (Spiritual practice for the spread of Spirituality). Under this, Sanatan Sanstha has been performing the work of trying to create a righteous society by spreading Dharma and eliminating the problems of society and the Nation.
Realising that Deities and temples are sources of Shakti (Divine Energy) in the form of Chetana (The aspect of Divine consciousness that governs the functioning of the mind and body) of the entire Nation and society, Sanatan Sanstha first started the work of releasing these sources of Chaitanya by undertaking campaigns such as ‘Preventing the denigration of Deities’ and ‘Temple Protection’.
Sanatan Sanstha’s awareness campaign to prevent the denigration of Deities has been greatly successful. Many devout Hindus have adopted this idea to a large extent and are now actively acting against denigration at many levels. Sanatan Sanstha has been involved in many campaigns such as – filing complaints against anti-Hindu artist MF Hussain; raising awareness about not naming liquor shops after Deities and National heroes; organising exhibitions so as to expose to the world the atrocities and oppression Kashmiri Pandits have had to face in the early days; raising voice against people involved in corrupt practices such as cheating in weights and measures to those who adulterate goods and materials; creating awareness about issues from street lights that are on during the day to the menace of stray dogs; launching campaigns against evil tendencies in the celebration of public festivals and explaining how to celebrate festivals in an ideal manner; going to Kashmir to deliver discourses and lectures; presenting the concept of an Ideal Rule (meaning Ramrajya); creating public awareness against ‘Love Jihad’ and religious conversions, etc. Sanatan Sanstha was the first to create awareness to keep the Khadakwasla reservoir in Pune free of pollution. Now, Hindu organisations are getting 100% success in this endeavour.
Sanatan Sanstha adopted an innovative and very legitimate method of creating awareness by uniting devout Hindu organisations and submitting memorandums to the Administration when any unjust incident was noticed with regard to Deities, Dharma, Hindus, Nation, etc.
Today many Hindu organisations are submitting memorandums simultaneously to the Administration against the attacks that are taking place on the Nation & Dharma. Due to the various attacks on Hindus in many places in Maharashtra, various movements have started on their own and have given rise to awareness and transformation at various levels.
Surprisingly, today there is plenty of awareness and action at the National level about many issues, from corruption to ‘Love Jihad’. In a similar manner, the proclamation of the term ‘Hindu Rashtra’ has also started at the National level. It should be noted that when a spiritual organisation such as Sanatan Sanstha undertakes a National campaign, its success is assured because of the direct blessings of God and the underlying resolve of the Guru. The seekers of Sanatan Sanstha are experiencing this today.
Movement succeeds when it has a Divine foundation
The seekers of Sanatan Sanstha serve society and the Nation without any expectations. They also participate in National-level movements as part of their samashti sadhana. The mental strength they obtain from their sadhana inspires them to participate in the fight against the harm caused to Deities, Dharma and Hindus. The goal of their life is God-realisation (obtaining Bliss) and they have no selfish motive in participating in the mission of serving society and the Nation.
As a result, although they do not get the desired success, their sadhana gets performed. Most importantly, it creates a seed-form impact on the attacks on society, Dharma or Nation. With the passage of time, the campaign or the issue spreads far and wide, and triggers a social change.
Behind this change noticed in the physical dimension, the Divine principle is operational in the subtle dimension. The reason for explaining this subtle process here is that there is a quote of Samartha Ramdas Swami – ‘Any movement, irrespective of who participates, succeeds only when it has a Divine foundation’. Sanatan Sanstha is the only organisation that experiences this quote of Samartha Ramdas Swami and gives its proof too.
Aspects associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj such as his faith in Goddess Bhawani, constant chanting of Her Name, obedience to the Guru, ruling his kingdom with the bhav that it is the wish of God and so on, shows the great spiritual foundation underlying the ‘Hindavi Swarajya’ he founded. In a similar manner, it will not be incorrect to say that Sanatan Sanstha, like a lighthouse, has created the spiritual foundation for the coming ‘Hindu Rashtra’ so that it overcomes the huge struggle during its formation.
A parental organisation for devout Hindus
Sanatan Sanstha’s seekers also participate in the campaigns of other devout Hindus, by giving them the spiritual strength of chanting God’s Name and satsangs that enhance enthusiasm. Various Hindu organisations consider Sanatan Sanstha to be a parental organisation and experience its unconditional support.
Patriots and devout Hindus participate in the mission of serving the Nation with yearning; but it is Sanatan Sanstha that has impressed upon them – ‘It is only because of the foundation of Dharma that they will be victorious’. Many devout Hindus have experienced this and have started performing sadhana. Instating Dharma is the mission undertaken by an Incarnation. So when the time is right, ‘Hindu Rashtra’ will be established; but one has to emancipate himself (by using his wilful action). Hence, it is necessary to perform sadhana. This guidance of Sanatan Sanstha is gradually being accepted by patriots and devout followers of Dharma.
Obtaining the necessary spiritual strength to remove the subtle obstacles one may face, and for the success of any Nation & Dharma related campaigns, Sanatan Sanstha’s Saints perform spiritual remedies such as chanting God’s Name. Sanatan Sanstha works to ensure the victory of Hindus by obtaining God’s blessings.
There is no doubt that the name of Sanatan Sanstha will be engraved in golden letters in the annals of the world’s history for initiating the foundation of Dharma, meaning that of God, in the mission of establishing the ‘Hindu Rashtra’ or Ramrajya.
