Guwahati (Assam) – All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) President Badruddin Ajmal said, “If Miyan (Bengali Muslims in Assam are called Miyan) does not stay, the work in the State will come to a standstill. It is not possible to remove Miyan people in the next three years or 300 years.” Badruddin Ajmal criticised Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. Ajmal defended Muslims, highlighting their contribution to Assam’s economy, hard work, and self-sufficiency. There will be no food. Construction will stop. Where will the vegetables come from ?’, he claimed.
1. Assam has recently decriminalised Muslim marriage. Chief Minister Sarma had said in the assembly that ‘as long as I am alive, child marriage will not be allowed in the State’. Badruddin Ajmal has challenged that if Chief Minister Sarma shows that 8-year-old Muslim girls are getting married in the State, then I will quit politics.
2. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma warned All India United Democratic Front chief Badruddin Ajmal that he would be arrested if found flouting the law and continuing with Magical practices. MP Ajmal was seen blowing water on people to eliminate their problems. People think that this water benefits them.
3. The state assembly recently passed the Assam Healing (Prevention of Evil) Practices Bill, 2024 in the assembly that bans non-scientific healing practices in the State. A first offence under this Act is punishable with a fine of Rs 50,000 and imprisonment for 1 year. This imprisonment may extend to 3 years. If found guilty again, a fine of up to 1 lakh rupees and imprisonment of up to 5 years can be imposed.
