Since the Israel-Hamas war broke out, Houthi rebels have been targeting merchant ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden to show support to Palestine. Many merchant ships are avoiding this waterway and taking a longer route around South Africa, which may cause inflation in the world.
The US along with other friendly Nations is keeping a vigil on the international waterways, but the Houthi rebels are not sparing US warships too. US warships have thwarted many attacks by Houthis in the East.
Indian Navy has deployed its warships in the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Aden and has rescued many merchant ships from the attacks but all these efforts are unable to ensure safety of the international navigation.
