Bengal Govt files a petition against Kolkata High Court’s decision
Kolkata (Bengal) – Trinamool Congress leader Shahjahan Sheikh arrested for sexual assault on Hindu women and attacking the squad of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at Sandeshkhali, was directed by Kolkata High Court to be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by 4.15 p.m. on 6th March 2024. Earlier, CBI asked Bengal Police for the custody of Shahjahan Sheikh which was refused by them. The Bengal Government filed a petition with the Supreme Court challenging the Kolkata High Court’s decision; however, the Court has refused to immediately take up the case for hearing. Bengal Police had claimed that the accused could not be handed over to CBI till the hearing didn’t take place in the Supreme Court. He was not handed over to CBI till 4.15 p.m. on 6th March 2024, but CBI was given custody of Shahjahan by the Police after 6.30 p.m.

All scams by Trinamool Congress (TMC) would be exposed if Shahjehan Sheikh was handed over to CBI, therefore, the Bengal Government was not ready to hand him over to CBI. It shows the value of democracy for TMC. |
