AI to track down the suspect involved in the Bengaluru bomb blast

CCTV footage indicates that the suspect is 25 to 30 years old

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – In the aftermath of the bomb blast at Bengaluru’s renowned Rameshwaram Cafe on the afternoon of 1st March, authorities have identified the suspect through CCTV footage. While the facial features are not entirely discernible, law enforcement is employing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to track down the suspect.

D Shivakumar, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister, mentioned that the captured facial image from the CCTV is undergoing scrutiny through a ‘facial recognition system.’ This system works by comparing the indistinct facial details with a comprehensive database, aiming to identify and trace the individual in question.

The CCTV footage reveals the timeline of the incident

Initial investigations indicate that the suspected individual is aged between 25 and 30 years. The CCTV footage displays a masked man disembarking from a bus nearby the cafe around 11:30 a.m. Upon entering the establishment, he places an order for Rava Idlis, completes the payment at the counter, and receives a token. At approximately 12:15 p.m., he departs, leaving a bag in the designated garbage box. An hour later, an explosion was triggered using a timer concealed within the same bag.
