Muslims threaten to burn the train bringing Ram devotees from Ayodhya in Karnataka
One arrested, while the search for others continues
Vijayanagara (Karnataka) – Police have arrested a religious fanatic who threatened to burn a train returning to Karnataka from Ayodhya. The incident occurred on the night of 22nd February when many devotees were returning from Ayodhya after visiting Shriram Temple.
1. As the train came to a stop at Hospet railway station in the State, 4 Muslim youths tried to force their way into coach S2 reserved for devotees. An argument ensued between the passengers as they refused to let the young man inside.
2. “If anyone prevents us from boarding the train, we will set it on fire,” he threatened. After informing the Police, the youths were allowed to travel in another coach; but the devotees got down from the coach and shouted slogans against the youth and demanded their arrest.
3. Bajrang Dal and other Hindu organisations arrived at the incident immediately once they received the information. They demanded strict action against Muslim youth.
4. Vijayanagara Superintendent of Police Srihari Babu B.L. reached the spot. He assured travellers and Hindu organisations that a case would be registered against the miscreants. After this, the devotees boarded the train and continued their journey.
5. While this was happening, the Muslim youths ran away from the scene. Police have started efforts to catch them and one has been arrested.
