US Police officer responsible for the death of Indian student ye to be punished
Objection registered by Indian Government
Seattle (USA) – The Seattle Police officer Kevin Dave responsible for the death of an Indian student Jaahnavi Kandula, will not face any criminal charges due to lack of ‘sufficient’ evidence, said a US Court. India has objected to this. The Government of India has demanded that the decision be reconsidered.

What is the matter ?
Jaahnavi Kandula was hit by a Police patrol vehicle driven by officer Dave, when she was crossing a street in Seattle on 24th January 2023. He was driving at 74 mph (more than 119 kmph) on the way to a drug overdose call. Jaahnavi Kandula was thrown 100 feet when she was hit by the speeding Police patrol vehicle. In bodycam footage released by the Seattle Police Department, officer Daniel Auderer who was sitting with Dave, laughed about the deadly crash and dismissed any implication Dave might be at fault or that a criminal investigation was necessary. Seattle Police Officer Daniel Auderer was captured in the video saying, “But she is dead” and laughing while on the phone. “She was 26 anyway. The life of an Indian student has limited value. A cheque (compensation) will do the job, “Auderer said in the video.

Editorial Perspective
India should put pressure on the US Government to take strict action against this officer instead of just registering an objection. |
