Bombay HC grants permission for Sakal Hindu Samaj march in Mira-Bhayandar

Police had earlier denied permission citing cases against BJP MLA T Raja Singh

Mumbai – The Police in Mira-Bhayandar had denied permission for the Sakal Hindu Samaj march citing cases against BJP MLA T Raja Singh. In this case, Naresh Nale of Bhayandar had filed a petition through lawyers in the Bombay High Court to obtain permission for the march and meeting. The hearing was held on 23rd February and the Bombay High Court granted permission for the events.

Naresh Nale had sought permission for a procession and meeting on the occasion of Shivaji Jayanti to celebrate Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. However, the Police requested the organisers to postpone the meeting as the Prime Minister was visiting on 19th February, the day of Shivaji Jayanti. Later, Nale applied for permission to hold a procession on 25th February with the participation of BJP MLA T Raja Singh and to hold a meeting. The Police denied permission for the procession and meeting stating that T Raja Singh has several cases registered against him and there were riots in Mira-Bhayandar a month ago.

Aggrieved by this, Nale filed a petition in the Bombay High Court through advocates Suresh Kulkarni and Vinod Sangvikar seeking permission for the procession and meeting. During the hearing on 23rd February, the lawyers argued that ‘this was a violation of fundamental rights’ and demanded permission for the procession and meeting. Following this, Justices Revati Dere-Mohite and Justice Dighe of the High Court ordered the Police to grant permission for the procession and meeting. Advocate Suresh Kulkarni was assisted by Advocate Khush Khandelwal and Advocate Vinod Sangvikar in this case.
