Bengaluru (Karnataka) – The slogan ‘This is a temple of knowledge, come inside with folded hands’ at the school entrances across several Districts of Karnataka State, including Vijayapura, and Shivamogga has been changed to ‘question without fear’. This change has sparked opposition within the State.
Shri Mohan Gowda
Addressing this issue, Mr Mohan Gowda, the Karnataka State Spokesperson of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, conveyed in a press release that,
- The Government is conspiring to destroy our morals, thoughts, and culture in children by linking the ‘folding of hands’ with religion. During the Corona epidemic, world leaders, including Britain’s Prince Charles, embraced the traditional Indian greeting of ‘Namaskar’ by folding their hands, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of our nation. The government’s attempt to destroy this is highly reprehensible.
- At the entrance of the Supreme Court, the phrase ‘Satyamev Jayate’ is prominently displayed. The question arises, ‘Will you give that also the colour of religion ?’ The sentiment of anger has surged, questioning ‘After stripping away the foundational culture of our nation, how can we expect these children to grow into civilised individuals capable of leading the country ?’
- The Government has a history of undermining faith in Hindu Dharma, and this history is accountable for its current actions. Parents and their children must recognise this deplorable behaviour of the Government and promptly demand the restoration of the original slogan.
