Successful launch of INSAT-3DS by ISRO satellite

Sriharikota (Andhra Pradesh) – Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has launched ‘INSAT-3DS’ successfully. It was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Center here on 17th February at 5.35 p.m. For the successful launch of the satellite, ISRO Chairman S Somnath had earlier performed puja at Sri Chengalamma Temple in Sullurpet, Andhra Pradesh. The purpose of this satellite is to get accurate information about weather and natural calamities. In this regard, Somnath said that this satellite has been proved for the Ministry of Earth Sciences. It is the third satellite in the ‘INSAT’ series of satellites.
Get accurate weather information
The entire funding of this mission has been provided by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India. The launch is an important step towards India’s growing dominance in space. ‘INSAT-3DS’satellite will study the ocean surface in detail. This will give accurate weather information. This will enable humans to make better predictions about natural calamities. This satellite will be very important for Indian Meteorological Organisations.
