Greece legalises same-sex marriage amidst debt crisis
The first Christian Orthodox country in the world to do so !
Athens (Greece) – Greece, a European country with economic crisis, has legalised same-sex marriage on 15th February. It has become the first Christian Orthodox country in the world to do so. Under the right-wing Government of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, 176 out of 300 MPs in parliament voted in favour of the bill. 76 voted against, while 2 did not participate in the voting. 46 were absent. Supporters of this bill called the vote a historic moment. This decision by the Government could not create much excitement in a country with rising inflation.
