Afghanistan should not be used to shelter terrorist organisations : India
Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) – India’s interests are intertwined with Afghanistan. Afghanistan should not be used to provide shelter and training to terrorist organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, India’s Deputy National Security Advisor Vikram Misri said at an event here. Misri addressed the sixth regional meeting of Security Council Secretaries and National Security Advisers of various countries. National Security Advisers of India, Russia, China, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan were also at this meeting.
Misri further added,
1. Instability in Afghanistan is a threat to the entire region. India has always supported peace, security, and stability there. Being neighbours, India and Afghanistan have intertwined economic and security interests.
2. India has always supported the formation of an inclusive Government in Afghanistan and the protection of the rights of women, children, and minorities.
3. India has so far invested Rs 2.49 lakh crore in Afghanistan. India is involved in 500 ongoing projects in 34 provinces. These projects are related to water, electricity, healthcare, education, agriculture, and construction.
