Professor who supported Nathuram Godse on social media booked for sedition in Kerala
Action taken after communist student organisations’ complaint
Kochi – Prof. Shaija Andavan from Kozhikode who supported Nathuram Godse on social media has been booked by the Police for sedition. A case was registered after the communist student organisations complained to her. Prof. Andavan is working as a senior professor at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Calicut, in the Mechanical Engineering department. On 30th January, she posted on social media, ‘Nathuram Godse is the hero of many Indians. Proud of Godse for saving India.’ Her post was widely circulated on social media.
Demand to suspend Prof. Andavan
Krishna Raj, a Hindu lawyer, circulated a post about Nathuram Godse. While expressing her thoughts on it, Prof. Andavan commented on the post. When she started receiving criticism on social media, she deleted her comment. However, the Police registered a case after a complaint was lodged against Andavan by the communist student organisations. These organisations have demanded Andavan’s suspension from the NIT. Congress MP from Kozhikode M K Raghavan has written a letter to the Director of NIT demanding action against her.
Ordinary people do not have information about Godse – Prof. Andavan
“I did not want to glorify M Gandhi’s murder. I have read Godse’s book ‘Why I Killed Gandhi ?’ This book contains many revelations and information, which are unknown to ordinary people. I had reacted to a post on Facebook in this regard. When I saw that people were misinterpreting my comment, I deleted the comment.”
Anti-Hindu activities at the NIT Calicut
On 22nd January, Shriramlalla’s pranapratishtha ceremony was held in Ayodhya. The members of communist student organisations had put up placards inside the NIT premises against the ceremony, which caused controversy.
