Green flag hoisted in public places in Bengaluru removed by the municipality
BJP had demanded to remove the flag
Bengaluru (Karnataka) – While the case of the Police removing the saffron flag bearing the image of Hanuman from a 108 feet high pole in Mandya, Karnataka is still fresh, the incident of hoisting a green flag in Bengaluru’s Shivaji Nagar has come to light. After the BJP demanded to remove this green flag, the Municipal Corporation removed it.
BJP’s Vijayapura MLA Basnagouda Patil Yatnal made this demand by posting on X. He asked the Commissioner of Police of Bangalore and the Director-General of Police if it is not against our flag code to hoist the flag of the enemy country in any public place. This flag should be removed immediately and the national flag should be hoisted there. Shivaji Nagar is not in Pakistan but in India.
Police and Bengaluru Municipal Corporation have taken action and removed the green flag. Local Muslim leaders have also been informed in this regard.
Some Muslims objected to the move, saying the flag had been flying for the past 30 years; but the Police claimed that this action was taken according to the laws.
Editorial Perspective
Police removed the saffron flag with a picture of Hanuman from a 108-feet high pole in Mandya, Karnataka on their own; whereas, a green flag has been flying in Bengaluru for the last 30 years, but the administration and the Police did not even notice it ! This is outrageous ! |
