Banners supporting Babri displayed at FTII, Pune
Pune – The pranapratishtha ceremony in Shriram Mandir, Ayodhya is drawing various responses in Maharashtra. On 23rd January 2024, there was a brawl at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune over Babri issue. FTII’s Students’ Association staged demonstrations in support of Babri. Devout Hindu organisations, however, reached there and started raising slogans of Jai Shriram, thwarting the student agitations. Communist organisations are said to be responsible for the demonstrations.
Banners displaying text such as Remember Babri, Death of Constitution were displayed in FTII’s premises. Slogans of ‘Fallen shall rise’ were also raised. Activists of devout Hindu organisations came to know about this and entered the FTII premises and thwarted the demonstrations amidst slogans of Jai Shriram. Banners displayed by students were torn, some were even set on fire. The Police rushed to the FTII. Students hurt in the brawl have been admitted to a hospital by the Police for treatment. An additional Police force has been deployed at the entrance of FTII.
Devout Hindu activists demand action against members of FTII Students’ Association
‘With these acts at FTII, the students have directly challenged the Supreme Court and the Government. Such incidents are concerning in the background of a threat already received of bombing the Shriram Mandir in Ayodhya. S K Shahare, the Director of FTII, is missing from the scene. Hence, along with him, the miscreants of FTII’s Students’ Association, should be immediately suspended and cases should be filed against them’, demanded devout Hindu activists through a statement submitted to the Police Commissioner. Advocate Pradip Gawade, and activists viz. Tushar Damgude, Amol Shukla, Mahaesh Pawale, Ajay Kute, etc. have registered a complaint in this matter.
Editorial Perspective
The Police should take action on their own. Why do citizens have to demand it ?
The statements also said,
Hundreds of people have lost their lives in riots and bomb blasts carried out in the past, over the issue of Shriram Mandir. Such sensitive matter was legally disposed of and India’s Prime Minister performed pranapratishtha of the Shriram’s Murti. The Union and State Governments even declared a holiday to celebrate the occasion.
The students at FTII, which is a Government institute, are enjoying several facilities out of taxpayers’ money. Nobody will question their fundamental rights; however, they are expected at least to keep away from hatching plots to stage riots and cause unrest in society.
