Co-operation agreement between Swiss and Indian Railways on the horizon
Indian Railway Minister praises the Swiss railways
Davos (Switzerland) – Railway Minister of India Ashwini Vaishnav has arrived in the city to attend the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF). In an interview, he said, ‘India has a lot to learn from Switzerland’s railway system. In this regard, a discussion took place with Swiss railway authorities and policymakers. Based on this, it is speculated that the Indian Railways and Swiss Railways may work together.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that Swiss Railways has excellent tunnelling technology and experience in this area. The Capital, Zurich, is a rail network hub, with trains running to many places from here. This offers the advantage that catching another train becomes easier. There are six such centers in Switzerland. In India, once the journey begins, the traveller can proceed directly to the last station; however, catching another train to change routes becomes difficult. Accordingly, we are considering forming a collaborative partnership. It would contribute to the improvement of the railway system in India as well.
