Iran attacked Mossad bases in Iraq with missiles; 4 killed

This is revenge on Israel for the killing of Iranian military officers in Syria : Iran

Tehran (Iran) – Iran’s special forces attacked the office of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad in Iraq with missiles. 4 people were killed in this attack. According to Iran’s state news agency IRNA, missiles were fired at anti-Iranian terrorist intelligence bases. Israel has yet to comment on the attack.

1. Iran says the attack was in retaliation for its military officers killed in an Israeli attack. In the past few days, Israel has carried out airstrikes in Syria and Lebanon. On 25th December 2023, Iranian Brigadier General Razi Mousavi and Hamas Deputy Leader Saleh al-Arouri were killed.

2. On the other hand, according to the information given by the New York Times, the Iranian attack took place near the US Embassy, which is estimated to be 40 km north-east of Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan, Iraq.

3. The US criticised Iran’s attack and said that this is a hasty step by Iran, which is also a big blow to the stability of Iraq.

4. After the war between Hamas and Israel started in Gaza, an indirect war started between Iran and the US too. Both countries have been attacking each other’s targets in Iraq and Syria. As a result, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani last week demanded that the US withdraw its troops from the country.
