Film ‘Annapoorani’ removed from Netflix after opposition from Hindus

Mumbai – After a massive opposition by the Hindus, the Film ‘Annapoorani’ has been removed from the OTT platform Netflix. The film producer ‘Zee Studios’ has apologised in this matter and assured that the objectionable scenes will be removed from the film. Hindu religious sentiments were hurt by this film and hence they opposed it. A case was also filed in Mumbai against the film.

In this film, a Muslim man is depicted as the boyfriend of a Hindu Brahmin girl. This man tells her that Shriram consumed meat during exile and advises her that if biryani is cooked after offering namaz, it tastes better. It is shown that the girl then cooks biryani after offering namaz. The film was released in the theatres on 1 st December 2023 and it was released on the Netflix on 29 th December 2023. Thereafter the film started receiving opposition.

Editorial Perspective
Apologising is not enough. The Censor Board which gave permission to release this movie and producers of the film should be penalised. Only then, hurting the sentiments of Hindus every now and then will be inhibited ! |
