Hindu woman to contest general elections for the first time in Pakistan

Peshawar (Pakistan) – A Hindu woman has filed her nomination for the Pakistani General Elections from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. This is happening for the first time in the history of Pakistan. The woman is identified as Dr Saveera Parkash from Buner District. She will contest the election as a Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate. Her father, Dr Om Prakash, has been an active party member for the past 35 years. Dr Saveera is currently serving as the General Secretary of PPP’s Women Wing. The voting will be held on 8th February 2024.
Dr Saveera said she would work for the poor and the underprivileged people if elected. She decided to contest the election after seeing the pathetic condition of the Government hospitals and decided to work for their betterment.
