Tel Aviv (Israel) – The Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror groups have reportedly rejected an Egyptian proposal that would see Hamas give up control of the Strip in return for a permanent ceasefire. Egypt has placed on the table a new proposal for a truce in the war with Hamas and the release of more Israeli hostages held in Gaza. In Egypt, talks between Hamas, Islamic Jihad and some Israeli officials went on for several days. The meeting aimed to establish a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. While these discussions were going on, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Gaza. He said, “We want to make it clear again that the Israeli military will not stop this war until every terrorist organisation dominating this place ceases to exist.”
- Officials from Egypt, as well as Qatar, also participated in the negotiation meeting held in Egypt.
- The conditions placed before both terrorist organisations included the immediate release of all hostages.
- Speaking to the global news agency Reuters, a terrorist of Hamas said that the people of Egypt are our brothers, but their terms cannot be accepted.
