Take action against the countries that give shelter to terrorists

Demands Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj, India’s Permanent Representative in the UN

UN Ambassador, Ruchira Kamboj

Geneva, Switzerland – India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador, Ruchira Kamboj, made the remarks at the Security Council open debate on Small Arms. “We have suffered immensely due to cross-border terrorism and violence carried out by terrorist groups using these illicit weapons smuggled across our borders, including now through the use of drones,” Kamboj said. Kamboj also urged that action should be taken against such countries that harbour terrorists.

Weapons are supplied to the terrorists

Kamboj added that the increase in volume and quality of the arsenal acquired by these terrorist organisations reminds us time and again that they cannot exist without the sponsorship or support of terrorist countries. Some countries are giving safe haven to terrorists. These people have not only committed serious crimes, but continue to supply fake and counterfeit currency, arms, narcotics, etc. to support terrorist activities across the border and harm the economy of opponent countries. She urged the Council to have ‘Zero Tolerance’ towards terrorist elements and their supporters.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Such demand in the United Nations have no impact. India itself needs to take an aggressive stance against terrorist countries.
  • Indians want to know what is preventing India from naming China and Pakistan in the United Nations Assembly ?
