The accused in the alleged conspiracy to kill terrorist Pannun files a petition in the Supreme Court
New Delhi – The family of Nikhil Gupta, who is accused of conspiring with Government officials to kill US-based Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, has approached the Supreme Court. It has been demanded that the Government of India should intervene in the ongoing extradition proceedings by the US’. It has been mentioned in this petition that ‘Nikhil Gupta has been detained illegally and his life is in danger’.
Indian citizen Nikhil Gupta is currently in a Czech Republic jail and his extradition request to the US has been provisionally approved. ‘Nikhil Gupta had allegedly sought the help of a person whom he believed to be a criminal to kill Pannun; but he was working as a spy for the Enforcement Directorate,” the US attorney said.
Responding to these allegations, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said, “We take such incidents seriously; because they affect our national security interests. The Government has appointed a high-level investigation committee and started the investigation in this case.
