Ramayan and Mahabharat will not be taught in schools
NCERT rejects reports of recommendation to include these epics in the school syllabus
New Delhi – In an exclusive conversation with India Today, NCERT Director Dinesh Prasad Saklani addressed the recent discussions around including the Ramayan in the classical history period of history textbooks for the upcoming academic session. Responding to the views expressed by CI Isaac, Saklani clarified that Isaac is not part of the textbook or syllabus committee, and his views are personal.
CI Isaac, who claims to be part of the social sciences committee, submitted recommendations years ago. However, a new 19-member committee, the National Syllabus and Teaching Learning Material Committee (NSTC) has been constituted for textbooks and the national curriculum framework, excluding Isaac.
Editorial Perspective
Why did the NCERT wake up a few days after these reports were published ? The Union Government must give a proper explanation to 100 crore Hindus in the country. |
