Bengaluru (Karnataka) – Former Congress MLA Amargauda Patil made an utterly irresponsible statement and said that one man cannot rape a woman, 3 to 4 people are required. He said this the victim’s father-in-law over a telephonic conversation. This conversation has been recorded and circulated on the social media. Patil has come under heavy criticism. The problem now is to verify whether it is true or not.

On 6 th of October Amargauda Patil’s colleague Sangangauda Patil was accused of raping a female farm worker, in Tavargera, Dist. Koppal. On 18 th of October the victim lodged a complaint at Tavargera Police Station. The woman’s in-laws took the complaint to Amargouda. There was a telephonic conversation between the victim’s father-in-law and Patil. During the conversation, Patil made an objectionable statement. He said, “There is no one in this world who can do this act alone; at least 3-4 people are required. No matter how strong a person is, he cannot do it. You will have to prove it. Why would a woman not scream ? One cannot clap with one hand; two hands are required. You bring a healthy man, and I will send a woman. Ask the woman if she can be raped.”
