Ayodhya (UP) – Saint Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya has staged a hunger strike of fasting unto death demanding that India be declared a Hindu Rashtra. Although 10 days have elapsed since he began this hunger strike, the Uttar Pradesh and Union Governments have not paid any attention to him. The incident came to light due to a video circulated on social media by film actor Mukesh Khanna in support of the Acharya.
Last year itself Acharya had demanded that India be declared the Hindu Rashtra at the constitutional level. He had also said at that time that if the Union Government fails to take steps towards it by 7th November 2023, then I will fast unto death and take Jalasamadhi (renouncing one’s body in water). Since the Government failed to fulfil his demand, he began a hunger strike at his residence.
Not a single administrative officer has cared to visit me: Paramhans Acharya
Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya said that in the last 9 days, my weight has decreased by about 7 kg. Even though I am fasting without drinking water, no administrative officer or public representative has cared to visit me.
