Afroz Ali kidnapped a Hindu girl and raped her for 15 months

The girl sexually exploited by others and married off due to a forced conversion

Sonbhadra (Uttar Pradesh) – A Muslim youth named Afroz Ali kidnapped a Hindu girl and raped her for 15 months. She was also sexually abused by others. Later he forcibly converted her and married her. The girl however escaped from his clutches after 15 months. The Police have arrested Afroz and his father in relation to this case.

On 31st August 2022, the Hindu victim was standing on the road near her college. Afroz Ali approached her on a bike. As both of them knew each other, he asked her to join him on his bike on the pretext of dropping her home. Instead, he took her to his home, where his sisters drugged her with some food and he then took her to another State. There, Afroz raped her several times and forced others to abuse her as well.

Eventually, he took her to Garhwa in Jharkhand, converted her and married her. After the marriage, she was named Kaynat Khatun. He then brought her to Sonbhadra and confined her in a room. From there she finally managed to send her ‘location’ to her family through a mobile phone, where the Police rescued her and arrested Afroz and his father.

Editorial Perspective

This incident shows that despite the anti-conversion and Love Jihad laws in Uttar Pradesh, the Muslims have no fear of these laws. It would not be wrong if anyone said such incidents keep happening because these laws are not being enforced properly.
