Russia’s gold reserves reach a new high
Moscow (Russia) – Russia increased its gold reserves to a record 2,360 tons in September this year, RIA Novosti news agency reported. The increase in the month amounted to 44 tons, or 2 percent. As a result, the current size of Russia’s gold reserves became the largest in Russia’s modern history.
According to an analysis of the agency, the United States has the largest gold reserves in the world – 8,100 tons, and Germany is in second place with 3,350 tons. Russia remains the fifth in the world in terms of gold reserves.
At present, various central banks are trying to buy more gold due to the economic uncertainty in the coming period around the world. As per the information provided by the World Gold Council, China purchased the most gold in the last three months compared to the other top buyers of gold – India, Turkey and Russia.
