Stringent action by UP Police against individuals accused of crimes against women

Laxmanpuri/Lucknow (UP) – The Uttar Pradesh Police have intensified their efforts to combat crimes against women in the State, with two recent incidents occurring in Ghaziabad and Greater Noida. Notably, a few days ago, Police officials convened a meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during which he emphasised that if the Police Station in the area where a crime against women occurs fails to take swift action, the responsible Police officer will be held accountable. It appears that concrete actions have been initiated as a result of this directive.
The first case is from Ghaziabad, involving a young engineering student named Kirti. She suffered injuries and had her mobile phone stolen, eventually succumbing to severe head injuries during medical treatment. One of the suspects responsible for the phone theft was apprehended, while the other remained at large. The Police set a trap in an attempt to apprehend the fleeing suspect. In the process, he opened fire, prompting the Police to return fire, resulting in him sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg. He passed away while receiving medical treatment.
In another incident, which occurred in Greater Noida, a delivery boy working for the ‘Blinkit’ company attempted to sexually assault a young woman while making a delivery to her residence, where she was alone. Hearing her screams for help, he fled the scene, but the Police managed to apprehend him. During his arrest, he made an attempt to abscond with a Police officer’s pistol and was injured as a result of the Police firing.
This Police action is seen as a resolute stance taken by Yogi Adityanath to curb crimes against women.
