Is the World heading towards WW3 ?
Over a period of past few months, Kim Jong Un and later Russian President Vladimir Putin warned of dire consequences and a possibility of World War 3. Many pockets of regional wars are forming in the World. Russia-Ukraine, Azerbaijan-Armenia war and now Israel-Hamas war. It will take just one mistake to trigger a full-fledged World War 3, if countries involved in any conflicts do not exercise restraint.
Looking at the various situations around the World, the de-escalation of war and war-like situation appears to be unlikely. Gradually, the situation can worsen leading to civil war in the war-torn countries. Here is a brief look at the current Israel-Hamas conflict, which is gradually engulfing the entire World.
Attacks and barbarism of Hamas on Israeli citizens
For hours on 7th October, Hamas terrorists seized part of Israel. In about 20 small localities along the Gaza Strip, they stalked the population, with one objective : Kill, kill as many as possible. They left over 1,200 dead – children, women, men of all ages, sometimes entire families. These killers didn’t say ‘Israeli’, they said ‘Jew’. In the realm of mass terrorism, Hamas unleashed a singular barbarity against a civilian population, with indiscriminate murders and hostage-taking that constitute crimes against humanity.
Involvement of North Korean missiles used by Hamas
Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Larry Stutzriem of USAF said, “North Korea has been building its illicit arms sales for a long time. The intelligence community has been watching this for decades, going back to the early 1990s. The way the regime has raised income is by selling largely, almost absolutely to the countries that are opposed to the allied Democracies in the world”.
Support of Muslim countries to the current war
In fact, besides Iran, the two countries that have offered the most material support to Hamas are Turkey and Qatar. These play host to Hamas leaders and house operational headquarters for the terror group, including the Hamas military wing.
Over the years, Arab and Muslim countries have consistently upheld the ‘Palestinian Cause’ as a reason for refusing to normalize ties with Israel. Several of these countries have regularly contributed money to Palestinians in Gaza, although not always with a guarantee that the assistance would reach civilians rather than the Hamas military wing. Now, with the Gaza refugee situation reaching the point of a crisis ahead of an anticipated Israeli ground campaign into the city, the same countries have been silent about receiving refugees from Gaza.
With the exception of Jordan and Egypt, which have adamantly stated their refusal to accept any refugees from Gaza, there has been little talk from other Muslim and Arab countries in the Gulf region about taking in the refugees.
The only way we can save the World from self-destruction
While the impact of these may not be evident, spiritually, such human actions increase the Raja-Tama components, thus reducing the Sattva component. The only way to reduce the Raja-Tama components and increase the Sattva component is to perform spiritual practice. Now is the time to start on spiritual practice and strive towards establishing the ‘Hindu Rashtra’ (Divine Rule) within ourselves first, society next, then the Nation and finally, the World.
