Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) – A young man from Kenichira village in Wayanad District was stopped by his mother from using his mobile phone; therefore, he got angry and killed his mother. Police have arrested the young man and he has admitted to the crime. A case has been filed against him.
The man was addicted to using the mobile phone as reported by Police. His mother admonished him and told him not to use his mobile phone, which angered him. He banged his mother’s head on a wall. She was admitted to a hospital. After seven days under treatment, she died on the 14th of October 2023.
As reported by local media, the young man was mentally disturbed and was once admitted to Kuthiravattam Mental Health Centre, Kozhikode. He seems to be affected by Nomophobia.
What is Nomophobia ?
|
It shows the influence of science and technology on humans in today’s world. It is the outcome of extreme faith in science without a spiritual base ! – Editor
The addiction due to excessive use of mobile phones or fear or stress caused by no access to a working mobile phone is known as Nomophobia (No Mobile Phone Phobia). Whether it is a mental ailment or not is yet to be proven but the addiction to mobile phones can affect a person’s mental health. It slowly adversely affects even his relations with others. As per one report, three out of four people in India are more or less, affected by Nomophobia. Some of them have admitted that they face mental problems in the absence of the internet or any fault with their mobile phones or if the phone is not charged, etc.
Editorial Perspective
Today’s young generation, known as ‘Gen Z’, is very fickle-minded and hasty. Due to the lack of education on Dharma and lack of spiritual practice, this generation is morally declining. The above incident is one of its extreme examples. |
