North Korea supplies Russia with 1,000 containers of weapons and ammunition; US claims

Washington DC (USA) – As the conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues, the US has made a major claim. The White House said North Korea has shipped more than 1,000 containers of weapons and ammunition to Russia. The ship departed from Najin port in North Korea on 7th September has arrived at Dunay port in Russia on 1st October. A few weeks ago, North Korean President Kim Jong Un visited Russia. The US said that an agreement may have been reached in this regard between the two countries at that time. The US has also released pictures of the ship’s shipment of weapons.

1. John Kirby, a spokesperson for the US National Security Council, said North Korea may have sought weapons-making technology from Russia in return for supplying Russia with weapons to boost its nuclear program.
2. Earlier, the US had alleged that North Korea was providing ammunition, guns, and rockets to Russia.
3. US officials have said that an arms deal could soon be signed between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean President Kim Jong Un. The two leaders may meet in Vladivostok, Russia. Kim Jong Un, who usually does not leave the country, will visit Russia again as he looks forward to the deal.
4. A few days ago, US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said that growing cooperation between Russia and North Korea could violate UN Security Council resolutions.
