Sialkot (Pakistan) – Shahid Latif, the mastermind behind the 2016 jihadi terror attack on an Army base in Pathankot, India, was shot dead by unknown assailants. He was killed outside a Mosque. He was on the National Investigation Agency’s terror list. 7 soldiers of India were killed in the Pathankot attack. The attack was carried out by the terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed. A fight raged here for more than 36 hours. It is alleged that Latif was also one of the terrorists involved in the hijacking of the Indian Airlines flight in 1999.
The then Congress Government had handed over Latif to Pakistan as ‘goodwill’
Shahid was a senior commander of the Jaish-e-Mohammed in Sialkot. He was sentenced after being arrested by India. After completing his sentence in 2010, India extradited him to Pakistan under goodwill. After going to Pakistan, he then proceeded to renew terrorist activities in India.
