Aditya L-1 has covered a distance of 9.2 lakh kilometres so far. This is the second Indian spacecraft to step outside the sphere of the Earth’s influence. Prior to this, only the ‘Mars Orbiter Mission’ i.e. Mangalyaan had successfully gone beyond the Earth’s sphere of influence. Aditya L-1 was orbiting the Earth in an elliptical orbit for the first 16 days after the PSLV launch. On 19th September, it orbited the Earth for the fourth time. With the support of the Sun and Earth’s gravity, this spacecraft continues its journey towards the Sun.
