Indian High Commissioner denied entry in Gurdwara by ‘Khalistani’ extremists in Scotland

London (Britain) – Vikram Doraiswami, the Indian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, was denied entry to a Gurdwara by ‘Khalistanis’. Doraiswami came for a meeting with the Gurdwara committee to discuss issues in connection with ‘Khalistani’ activities. On opposition by pro-Khalistan activists, he went back to his car. A video on the incident of stopping Doraiswami at Gurdwara has become viral on social media, wherein Doraiswami is seen going back to his car when stopped from entering Gurdwara. The Scotland Police have been informed of the incident. Indian Government has taken up the issue with the British External Affairs Ministry. It is the second important incident after the incident of attack on the Indian High Commission in London.

One pro-Khalistan activist said in this matter that some of them knew about Doraiswami’s visit; therefore, he was asked to go back on reaching Gurdwara. Gurdwara Committee must have felt bad, but Indian officers will not be welcomed in any of the Gurdwara. We are troubled with the alliance between Britain and India.

Editorial Perspective

Such an incident emphasises the need for prompt, stringent action by the British Government against pro-Khalistan activists.
