Ukraine criticises G20 declaration for avoiding Russia’s mention while mentioning the Ukraine war

Kyiv (Ukraine) – In the G20 summit held in New Delhi under the presidency of India, India circulated a joint declaration exhibiting great diplomacy. It avoided mentioning Russia directly though it mentioned the Ukraine war. All G20 countries accepted it, but Ukraine has criticised it. Ukraine is also unhappy about not being invited by India to the summit.

Regarding Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, G20 has nothing to be proud of, tweeted Oleg Nikolenko, (Spokesperson for Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry). He added, ‘If Ukraine were present at the summit, the member countries would have understood Ukraine’s position better.’ Some European countries, including France, objected to the language used in the declaration with respect to the Ukraine war. Oleg thanked these countries for siding with Ukraine.

G20 adopted a final declaration. We are grateful to the partners who tried to include strong wording in the text. Editorial Viewpoint

Ukraine has always stood against India and helped Pakistan on the Kashmir issue. Ukraine should realise that India never called it “unimpressive”. When one suffers through the same ordeal, only then understands others’ suffering; however, Ukraine has still not taken India’s side on the Kashmir issue.
