We are not owners of moon, entire world will laugh at us : Congress leader Rashid Alvi
Congress threw tantrums over naming the moon landing point as ‘Shiv Shakti Point’
New Delhi – On 26th August, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the touchdown point of the Chandrayaan-3 moon lander will be renamed ‘Shiv Shakti’. As soon as the Indian Prime Minister made the aforementioned declaration, the Congress party, guided by their peculiar habit of finding flaws in every effort the BJP undertakes, quickly chimed in to criticise this endeavour as well. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said, “Who has given the right to PM Modiji to do the naamikaran (naming) of the surface of the moon ? The entire world will laugh.”
The India Today journalist questioned the Congress leader on his hypocritical stance on this issue reminding how his party, when in power, named the landing point of Chandrayaan 1 the ‘Jawahar point’, after their then supremo Jawahar Lal Nehru. Alvi immediately went on to eulogise Nehru calling him incomparable. Rashid Alvi asserted, in reference to Modi’s selection of the name “Shiv Shakti,” which is named after one of the most revered Hindu Deities, that Nehru’s name could not be compared to “any other” name. “You can’t compare Jawahar Lal Nehru. Whatever ISRO is it is only because of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru,” Alvi argued in defence of Congress. Further, he said, Prime Minister Modi is playing politics on this issue.
BJP’s response to Alvi’s statementWhile opposing Alvi’s statement, BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala said that this stance of Congress is a form of ‘Family First’ against India. If there was a United Democratic Alliance Government, they would not have sent ‘Chandrayaan-2’ and ‘Chandrayaan-3’. If it had been sent, the spots on the moon would have been named ‘Indira Point’ and ‘Rajiv Point’. |

When it comes to India’s dignity, why doesn’t Alvi speak about the absurd statements of Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi because of which India is being laughed at international forums ? |
