Russia’s Wagner mercenary group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin dies in plane crash
Moscow – A private chartered plane carrying seven passengers and three crew members crashed on 23rd August while en route from Moscow to St Petersburg. The incident has led to reports suggesting the death of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Russian mercenary group Wagner. Local media, citing Russia’s emergency ministry, have reported that all ten individuals on board the plane lost their lives. Videos shared on social media depict the aircraft engulfed in flames. The exact cause of the accident remains unclear.

The White House has informed President Joe Biden about the plane crash in Russia. Biden informed reporters that while he isn’t certain about the details, he isn’t taken aback by the incident. He commented, “While I don’t possess definitive information regarding the event, I am not surprised.” He added, “In Russia, there’s hardly an occurrence that doesn’t involve Putin in some capacity, yet I lack the necessary information to provide a definitive response.” Biden shared these remarks with reporters during his vacation in Lake Tahoe.
