5.8 magnitude quake in Afghanistan jolts Northern regions including Delhi, J&K
New Delhi – Tremors were felt on 5th August at 9.31 p.m. on the borders of the country’s capital Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir, as well as in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The National Seismological Center reported that the magnitude of the earthquake was 5.8 on the Richter scale. The epicentre of the earthquake was estimated to be 181 kilometres below ground level in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. This place is 418 km northwest of the Gulmarg District of Jammu and Kashmir.

After the tremors were felt in the capital city of Delhi and its surrounding areas, the Delhi Police tweeted, ‘Hope everyone is safe. If anybody has any sort of emergency, kindly contact 112’.
