EXCLUSIVE : Fireworks during Diwali is the most serious environmental problem : Amazing discovery by MPCB
MPCB has no concern about noise pollution by mosque-loudspeakers
Mumbai, 30th July – Several complaints against noise pollution caused by loudspeakers fitted on mosques have been filed with various Police stations in Mumbai. Cases are going on in Mumbai High Court and Session Courts since the Police are paying no attention to the complaints. In such a situation, along with the Police, now even Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has claimed that the fireworks during Diwali is the most serious environmental problem in Maharashtra, while totally ignoring the noise pollution caused by loudspeakers fitted on mosques. The annual report under reference is for 2021-22, recently published by MPCB.
The highlights of the Anti-Hindu Annual Report of MPCB
- MPCB conducted sound-level tests at 104 places including the residential, commercial areas, and peace zones under 27 Municipal Corporations, on 21st and 22nd February 2021, continuously for 24 hours, and recorded the findings which are given in the report.
- MPCB has claimed that the noise pollution recorded in Mumbai was due to the traffic, and rain, while it was due to crowding and honking in Navi Mumbai.
- Attention is specifically drawn to the rise in decibel levels during Ganesh Festival, but there is no note on noise pollution caused due to loudspeakers fitted on mosques in any of the 27 Municipal Corporations’ areas.
- It is worth noting that cases related to noise pollution in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai are going on in the Courts. The Courts have accepted the noise pollution caused by mosques’ loudspeakers and even ordered the Police to take necessary action, though MPCB has completely ignored this issue in its annual report.

Editorial Viewpoint
Recording decibels and noise pollution only during Hindu festivals, and overlooking the noise pollution caused throughout the year by mosque loudspeakers is a clear case of discrimination. The Government should take severe action against the concerned responsible officials. |
