India’s current cricketers have become arrogant because of money : Kapil Dev, Former Cricketer
Veteran cricketer Kapil Dev lashes out at current Indian cricketers
New Delhi – India’s senior former cricketer Kapil Dev has criticised the current cricketers. Kapil Dev said in an interview in ‘Wake Up India’ to Indian Express daily that sometimes having more money creates ego. Sportsmen of the present era are so engrossed in the pride of money that they do not see anything like the nation before it. It doesn’t matter to them whether India wins or loses. They are currently playing with the mindset of ‘if we lose this World Cup, then the next one is there’ because even after a big tournament, no responsibility is fixed on any player. They know that no one can remove them from the team and even if they are removed, then the IPL is there.
Current players think that they can never make a mistake !
Kapil Dev further said that some senior players or young players do not take advice from former players and repeat the same mistake while playing. The good thing about these players is that they are very confident. Their downside is that they think they know everything. They also think that they can never make a mistake, and they never think about how they can improve their game.
Why not consult Sunil Gavaskar ?
Kapil Dev said about taking advice that these players do not feel the need to ask anyone. That is the difference between our generation and the present generation. I would say that there are many cricketers who need help. When you have a legendary player like Sunil Gavaskar, why can’t you talk to him ? Why does your ego come in between ?
Former players used to take advice ! : Sunil Gavaskar
Former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar had recently said in an interview that legendary players like Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, and Sourav Ganguly used to visit him regularly. They would come to me with specific problems, and I would tell them exactly where they were going wrong. I had no ego and neither did they. I can go and talk to the players now, but since Rahul Dravid and Vikram Rathore are currently the two coaches for the Indian team, I avoid meeting them as I don’t want to confuse the players with more information.
